Friends,
How is everyone doing?
We too were glued to our feeds as the violence unfolded yesterday in DC. We don’t usually dig deeply into national news unrelated to tech but are compelled to unequivocally condemn the attempted insurrection. Fair elections and the peaceful transfer of power are the foundation of our country.
As an organization primarily concerned with community and civic engagement, we have faith that our democracy will prevail as it has throughout history. Peace will be restored, electoral votes have been certified, and a new president will be sworn in. But the fracturing of our community and civic life will take a long time to repair. Never before has there been a clearer call for your participation. We’re committed to continuing to help you learn about the systems and people that keep our nation, city, and community moving forward.
In solidarity,
The sea.citi Team
Friends,
Whether you’re lighting the last candle on the menorah tonight or are in the final stages of other holiday planning, we wish you safe and peaceful celebrations. No Community Updates next week but we’ll get some actions and distractions in your inbox the following week.
Season’s Greetings!

Friends,
The covid numbers are scary right now. Though we’ve been monitoring this news since we started sending updates on March 13, we made a conscious choice to not include public health statistics in these updates. We want to be mindful that “the numbers” are people. By largely focusing on tech-for-good news and opportunities to engage, we’ve seen that our industry and community can come together to flatten the curve and take care of each other. Let’s continue to do this work!

Friends,
As this coronacoaster of a year winds down, many of us are closely following vaccine news. If you’re one of those people, the Washington State Department of Health has a dedicated COVID-19 vaccine page.

Friends,
Despite the many difficulties of 2020, our team is feeling thankful — for new and strengthened community partnerships, for the way our member companies stepped up to help, and for this weekly connection to you, our readers! Our theme for this year’s Thanksgiving celebration is keeping it local. We’re switching things up to bring you a Small Business Saturday Guide today and a Giving Tuesday Guide next week.
