What the heck is a Democracy Voucher, you ask?! KUOW put together this handy guide on what they are and how to use them!
Democracy vouchers are like monopoly money that Seattle residents can give to candidates running for city offices. The program was approved in 2015 by Seattle voters to make local elections more accessible and is funded through property taxes.
Each resident gets four vouchers worth $25 and you can send them to participating candidates. You can send them all to one candidate or split them up to multiple.
Send them in the mail to Seattle Elections or give them directly to the candidates. The Vouchers can be used up until November 29th.
- Find out which candidates are eligible for vouchers here.
- You don’t need to be a US Citizen to be able to give Democracy Vouchers to your favorite candidates, just a Seattle resident who is over 18 and a permanent resident. Check out if you are eligible.
- Didn’t receive your vouchers in the mail or the dog ate them? No biggie! You can get replacement vouchers here.
